Joe Posnanski

This guy is my new favoritate sports columnist. He had a great piece comparing Pete Rose to Derek Jeter the other day. Today, he followed up with a wonderful article on Manny Ramirez.
Check him out if you get a chance.

The above quote is true of all the greats: Terrell Owens, Manny Ramirez, Doug Campbell.

I read his "Godgers" article. I heard "Dodgers." More importantly, is Sarah Palin wearing a she-mullet. Looks like it to me.

Also read part of the Rose vs. Jeter article...I never get much out of those kinds of articles. I guess it generates discussion, which is what it's supposed to do, but who cares? Rose was Rose and Jeter is Jeter. Both great players.

Those comparisons are like saying, "Would the 1975 Steelers beat the 2005 New England Patriots?" Who cares? They'll never play each other, so it's all just jerking around, as far as I'm concerned.

The great thing abouot Posanski's Rose-Jeter comparison was its rhetorical construction. He set it up beautifully with the argument in favor of Jeter and then slowly ripped it down and built up the case for Rose. It was done masterfully and even had me looking at Rose, (who I think is a dirty scoundrel) in new light.
