Conservative Michael Moore-wannabe arrested

At least that's the way I see James O'Keefe's arrest yesterday related to bugging the phones of a Democratic Senator. It's kind of an outrageous story. When I first read it, I figured they must have wanted to be caught - for publicity or something...or is this just what happens when conservatives try to get into the liberal game of sensationalized film exposes? I guess you could compare it to Watergate, which occurred at a time when most people thought Democrats owned dirty politics.

Anyhow, from what I've read, there is no way these guys thought they could get away with this, is there?

Whoa...Maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and a fine of $250,000!

That's not chickenshit.

I think the extremely polarized rhetoric in the US pushes people to do outrageous things. This guy made some traction when he posed as a pimp and visited Acorn. I guess he figured he could do it again and expose them in some way that would make him a hero.

I can't believe that he was fully aware of the consequences before he went in. He may have thought he would get caught and that that might make him a hero in conservative circles. But I can't believe he went in knowing that the maximum penalty would be 10 years in prison and a fine of up to$250,000.

That's a buzz kill right there, ain't it?

You would think, but the one guy's Dad is some sort of judge, so I'm assuming they new something. Maximum, schmaximum, they're figuring they'll get off with a slap on the wrist I figure.

It's pretty humorous to me. Talk about 4 righteous dumbshits getting together and hatching a crackpot scheme. Should be interesting to see what happens.

On another note, I see that Obama took it upon himself to debate the republicans. Talk about pathetic, a sitting president being reduced to "debating" the members of the House of Reps because his own Democratic party is too chickenshit to. As I said before, Obama's own party has completely deserted him. After 8 eight years of Bush, it seems the only thing the Democrats are only good at is complaining about who is in charge. So sad when you think about all of the people who actually gave a shit this past election and voted.

Well said, Stan.

What's the old saying?

"Democrats will eat their own..."

They finally win a majority and they have no idea how to handle it. It's an ongoing conundrum in politics: The Democrats try to please everybody and end up pleasing nobody while Republicans tend to focus on such small groups of people (typically, the wealthy) that the masses eventually vote them out.

I read an article recently about whether America's or China's model of governance will win out. All I can say is that it's a good thing there are so many Americans who cooperate every day to get so many amazing things done, because if we were only as good as our leaders, we'd be doomed.

That's why I'm always trying to break down the polemics encouraged by the media. As long as we identify as "blue" or "red" and not as average working people (as most of us are) then we find ourselves pitted against one another in our day-to-day lives.

That strikes me as ludicrous. Why do I care if my plumber is red or blue, as long as he does a good job? Working people need to stick together, not be torn apart by ideological notions.

My two cents...
